The Fishing Crew" is an evocative oil painting measuring 20x24 inches. It masterfully captures a serene scene set against the backdrop of a breathtaking sunrise. On the left side of the composition stands a rustic guesthouse, with visible windows and a slightly worn appearance that hints at its long-standing presence in the landscape. Warm light spills from the windows, adding a welcoming glow and a sense of history to the scene.
Moving away from the guesthouse towards the horizon are two brothers, each equipped with a fishing pole and a bucket, poised for an adventure. A couple of faithful dogs trot alongside them, enhancing the feeling of innocence and companionship. The expansive sky above is painted with soft, blended hues of blue, pink, and orange, evoking the tranquility of dawn. The background is marked by distant fields and trees, further emphasizing the peaceful, pastoral atmosphere of the setting.

Inspiration for this artwork came from the old clamshell button factory, where 100 years ago, workers created buttons from the clams that were dredged from the river bottom.  Now a charming guesthouse it is affectionately known today as "The Landing, and is a hub for fishermen and women and a popular place for visitors to enjoy the beauty of the river.   This unique element adds historical and personal layers to the painting, making it not just a visual delight, but also a nostalgic journey into the heart of life along the Mississippi River.  The neighbor boys were my models for this painting, with their labrador "Tracker".  Their beloved buddy "Rex" is no longer with us, but looks on in this painting, as this artist has a soft spot in her heart for that silly little dog.
