"Highway Haybales" captures a serene rural landscape in a compact 9x12 oil painting. The central focus is two hay bales resting in a field, rendered in earthy tones of brown and yellow. These colors contrast with the lush green foliage and distant trees, creating a harmonious balance. The sky, painted in a soft light blue, hints at a clear, tranquil day, enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.
The artwork's loose brushwork introduces a textured, impressionistic quality, adding depth and movement to the scene. Inspired by a view along the Great River Road outside Guttenberg, Iowa, the painting highlights the shifting lights and shadows characteristic of this iconic Midwestern setting.
